Saw Zao last week, amazing. Last time I saw them was 2005 with Misery Signals, Cephalic Carnage, and Darkest Hour.

Dude you're so lucky. They are only doing so few shows this year. Hopefully they will come to Canada soon.

Would absolutely love to see these guys live! They are one of the most underrated bands IMO but I like that they are not huge.

These guys are from my hometown area and the vocalist owns a tat shop like 5 minutes away from my apartment. Pretty cool stuff. I should probably get more into them considering this is the only album I've heard.

i really dont consider much else by them worth listening to (jokine will say otherwise if he sees this) except for maybe their Self Titled and The Funeral of God

That's it? Seems like pretty much all of their albums get well received around here. Jamming this one again right now and I think I'm gonna bump my rating up.

by hometown area I assume you mean PA where most of the best-known lineup is from, Hawks? these guys actually formed with a completely different lineup in my hometown in WV, although by the time this album rolled around the drummer was the only member left from that area.

Years ago I was told to listen to Zao cuz they're cool, and so I gave them a listen, and it happened that I listened to The Splinter Shards, which I really didn't like (and still don't like), and because of that, I had the impression that Zao is just another boring 90s hardcore band. I wish I first heard Where Blood and Fire Rest or this album instead of The Splinter Shards, fuck my life.

it was really weird looking at this old absolutepunk thread where they were whining about how zao were fake hardcore along with the likes of converge and such sorts funny looking back
