Listening to Starless is a sacred experience and I'm afraid the video would taint the imagery

that's probably because you let your own mind create those images for you, whereas in a film, they give it to you, which means that you don't get to use your own imagination

I get that, however, you can't help but wonder when that marriage of sound and image is done correctly. For example, the "apocalypse now" opening scene, I can't recall any other cinematic sequence that captures the horrors of war more accurately, and the song only adds more tension and drama. No other song could have done that, it's almost perfect.

there are very few albums that have garnished a 5 from me on the first listen, at least in the last 5 years, the other is Banquet, actually these 2 have that same type vibe throughout

What's everyone's opinions on the original mix vs. the 2013 remix?

Red is probably the only album that really didn't need a remaster as the original was probably and still is the best sounding KC album. The Wilson mix is good, however, but there's not much of a difference between it and the 1974 original.

The production values on this one were very ahead of their time. The album sounds like it could have been released yesterday and still not sounded dated, which is something you can't say about even some of the most timeless and classic albums of that decade

the 70's had great production overall imo

it was in the 80's when things went wrong (in most cases at least)

The 2013 Mix has stronger bass which I like. But if you have a good equalizer it won't make much of a difference.

I tend to agree that the 70s was mostly pretty great for production values. Most of it sounds way less dated than 80s stuff. But yeah, I personally can't hear too much of a difference between the versions of this, maybe a bit more bass but nothing radical. Seems unnecessary tbqh!

70's way better than 80's production, 70's sound timeless, 80's sound like the 80's.
