I disagree, I think Anneke gave it a whole new energy. I do love the original though.

The original one is more cold and sensual, so I think it suits the music a lot more. But of course I like the Addicted one too, hence the 5.

I agree with your description, I just like it more for it's happiness and aggression, I guess that's why I like the newer one a bit better.

In-Ah might be off-putting at first given its generic 4-chord circular progression that 99% of pop songs have... but you have to realize that he was fully aware of that and embraced it. In-Ah shows us exactly what a talented musician and songwriter can do with a generic chord progression. It's a beautiful song on an incredible album.

Mixed version does rule! x2
I upped the rating after just starting to listen to this again. I initially didn't like a few of the tracks, but after thoroughly digesting Decon and Ghost, I'm having an easier time understanding Devvy's style, making it a lot easier to appreciate these tracks. That, and those pop beats are catchy as hell.

Beautiful album...Its that infectious i find myself humming along and singing along to every word of every song. It probably helps that I'm a big fan of anneke van giersbergen as well, but nonetheless devin townsend has achieved another album to add to his 'could anything be better' album collection.
