It's definitely really good man. Not my absolute favorite, but I think it might be my next NIN 5.

Just saw that this was released after PHM. Seeing that I've only heard The Fragile and this by NIN, I'm wondering if PHM is similar to this in sound or vice versa?

Uh no not really at all. The closest overall sort of sound you will get to TDS is Broken, the EP. And even that is pretty different to TDS. It's basically really angry Trent, but I think it's still phenomenally done.

But PHM is totally different. It's more dark synth pop with industrial influences. It's still an ace album though. Some people might find it a bit dated though. But again, the 2010 remaster for it is sick as fuck.

Synth pop eh? That makes me even more interested. I'm assuming there is still some distorted guitars and screaming to be heard (hopefully).

For some reason I always think of Depeche Mode when I hear the term synth pop, but that's really about all I've heard from the genre. I really like quite a few of their songs, especially the 90's era. I'm guessing PHM is very different from DP's sound but I think it was worth mentioning because a lot of DP is quite dark and melancholic.

But thanks for the insight. Yes, I guess I could just go on youtube and listen to a song or two but I'd rather try a blind buy based on some information of the sound.

although is considered more synthpop it actually has got some industrial projection, and terrible lie doesn't sound "synthpop" at all
