many much more respected reviewers than me have negged this review.

Such as?

why is this thermalojew guy always bitching about good metalcore not being good.

This would have a lot more weight to it if you hadn't given each of this bands albums a 4.5 and Jhazmyne's lullaby a 4.5 as well. It's just laughably silly.

i dunno 7a7p beats anything that later spawned from their members.

Not denying that. But to consider anything this band has done on par with 7A7P is ridiculous.

metalcore hit its peak from 1998-2002.
we are the romans, jane doe, functioning on impatience, no wings to speak of, calculating infinity,
until your heart stops, liberate te ex infernis, opposite of december, jhazmyne's lullaby, rock and
roll killing machine, last night in town, fused together in revolving doors, etc etc

Adam: on this very site, Hopesfall is categorized as post-hardcore in the ilk of Thrice and Thursday. that's good enough for me.

if i thought minutely categorizing the bands i like into neat, perfect little genres would improve my self esteem, i would do it. thankfully i don't. i'm perfectly comfortable with myself as it is.

ultimately, i really don't give a shit about what specific sub-genre a certain band falls into. i just like listening to good music.

the only reason they are given the post-hardcore tag is because of A-Types. but then again, common
sense isn't your forte so i'll just leave it at that. time to listen to some deadguy.

Genres are as simple as jazz.

Think about that.

the fact a band helped a person get into a genre and therefore holds some significance to them and the fact a few of this bands songs hold a certain emotional weight for this person certainly don't merit a 4.5 no sirr-rreee.

mmm i don't think so Adam...i've listened to every single one of Hopesfall's albums, and they all sound like most of the defined post-hardcore in my library. there's some parts that overlap with metalcore, but metalcore is such a broad genre that it's almost inevitable.

now now stan don't let this fool ruin hopesfall for you.
they're a wonderful band. listen to the satellite years for their more metalcore sound as well as their even earlier stuff.

Not an objective one. I mean one of the first heavy bands I listened to was Korn, doesn't mean I'm going to give Follow the Leader a perfect score just because it provides me with nostalgia.

haha don't worry, i'll always love Hopesfall.

and Adam's the one trying to argue now...i already told him i don't give a shit about genres, so i don't know why he's still talking about it.
