Emo, like most of the sad afterbirth of the punk/post-punk movement, failed to realize that punk's whole conceit, its foundation in the idea that ugliness is beautiful, that DIY low-budget cheap sloppy shit was raw, anti-mainstream, and antiauthoritarian, was bullshit. the best artists to emerge out of the ruins of punk rock ended up drifting into New Wave, post-punk Gothic, and electronic music. the worst continued to fetishize chaos and sounding shitty as some sort of expression of defiance or sincerity and became hardcore, emo, and metalcore (and so on and so forth)

Actually, turtles fucking sounds completely different.
Drew's screams sound more like a guy closing is larynx and forcing air through it across the opening of the pharynx, to the roof of his mouth, into a microphone, producing a high-middle-range rasp.
