Well, never really gave them a chance, always passed up their cd's for something else. I mean, I had Ghost Reveries for about a week before I lost my case. Harlequin Forest kicked ass though.

SynGates, thank you Browsing them now.
Make sure you get None So Vile as it's easily their best.

JD- Depending on how much you've listened, I'd say you may need to listen to it more because at first, Bleak, Leper and TDF were the only songs I liked as well. This Message Edited On 10.23.07

My friend pulled this cd with its case from his bag. He gave to me expecting it not to work. It has no scratches even though its been there for a few months. As for the album, its incredible. Its hard to name a favourite song because there all so incredible. But my version dosent have the last 2 tracks though. Odd.

Never really gets old. Everything here is fun to learn on guitar too. Especially The Leper Affinity and Blackwater Park.

Never understood all the praise. Opeth are one of my favorite bands, I'll take "My Arms your Hearse", "Still Life" and "Morningrise" over this every time. Steven Wilson, a brilliant musician in his own right, just ruins this with his vocals. So out of place on a "heavier" album.

In case you forgot, Opeth isn't heavy all of the time.

Um... So I guess you don't like the chorus in Bleak...

Too bad, cause his vocals along Ã…kerfeldt in that song is the epitome of awesomeness.

I'm sure most would disgree with me on this. Agreed Opeth are not always heavy. But, on the "heavier" parts of BP, Wilson's vocals for me, sound too light and airy. Just my subjective opinion. Btw, Wilson is possibly the best songwriter working today.

If you guys like this, check out Moonsorrow if you haven't done so already. I can't really say if they have a similar "style" persay, but they construct sweeping, multi-faceted epic songs that vary in mood and tempo and heaviness very similarly to Opeth...only better IMHO.This Message Edited On 01.08.08
