it's gay but it's got nothing on 'we're here because we're here'. After it's first 2 or so tracks that album bleeds pure wussy gayness.

No way!!!

Omair, WHBWH (and WS ofc) sound too polished, too perfect for Anathema (damn you Steven Wilson).

For me this band was always about that raw and melancholic emotion of those 90's records whose songwritting was sloppy but not predictable, giving them that extra depth. They probably didn't know what they were doing, but they were doing it from the heart.

I don't feel that on later albums. As much as I love Lost Child, The Untouchable or Universal, songs tend to follow a pattern, and becoming too logic (and happy) for Anathema standards, and I feel once these songs wear out, I would stop listening them for years.

Or I am just writting bullshit, who knows.

The best thing about Anathema's polished sound is that it's perfection, like what they've been working towards all these years after experimenting so much in different styles.

I love Judgement, hence the 5 but WHBWH for me is just...perfect.

@Dream I get you, but I'd also say that A Natural Disaster combines a polished sound with enough bleakness to succeed

A band can only wallow in misery for so long. I like the change - there is nothing wrong with writing happy music. The band already have enough 'albums of despair' don't you think it was time to change?

It's not like they're entirely happy in the new albums either. Just overcoming that suffering.
