Heaven in Her Arms

title track is badass as well as concubine, broken vow, distance and meaning, heaven in her arms, fault and fracture and thaw
|
| |
Agree with Chan. Broken Vow is pretty sick.
Also, this isn't the only thing growing, if you know what I mean. Lol, amirite?

The melodic verse riff midway through Heaven in Her Arms is what gets me every time.

I think I need to re-evaluate my rating...

OK, so this is getitng to the point where I can rate it now. A few more listens first though.
I see where everyone's coming from abotu the vocals. It really works with the lyrics and general feeling of anger/angst.

no the vocals are meant to sound serene not angsty
ugh

the vocals are a mix of anger, frustration, pity, sadness, and despair, all fused together into a conglomeration of pure emotional power.
Needless to say, Jacob Bannon is one of my favorite vocalists of all time now.

hahaha
I still can't take him in on this album, his performance on Petitioning is a lot more palatable.

| |
I've always felt if you enjoy one thing Jacob Bannon did it wouldn't be difficult to get into something else he did. The evolution of Converge in my eyes is mostly in the instrumentals.
|
| |
I still don't like his vocals all that much but they're definitely less abrasive on Petitioning. Also has a lot to do with the production of the vocals, maybe or something.

I agree, except Bannon's vocals on Petitioning are far more "Metal" influenced than on later CD's, as is the music. Which is probably why me and Rasputin love it so much
Still prefer Jane Doe more though.

Is it wrong for a band like this to have an abrasive vocalist?
