It's very good on the first listen, maybe 2-3 song could have been cut, but a lot of really really good material.

i don't doubt it - the songs they released early were all pretty damn great (the final track in particular, although i imagine it works much better in context)

the ratings for this are so low here. i don't think a staff or contrib gave it anything higher than a 3.5. i mean, by their standards it's nothing special, but still a collection of great songs far better than a lot of their competition

a collection of great songs = an overall great album = 3.5 (great)

personally, there's 2 or 3 songs here I could bother with, and the rest I could take or leave. I'd say 2.5ish
