This is the album that really got me into Agalloch. When I was first getting into metal I was just a person that would listen to a few songs and not really appreciate the whole thing. I listened to this whole thing and was hooked immediately.

*gasps in surprise*

I had absolutely no idea ;)

shocker I know :]

also the album to get me into Agalloch was obviously Ashes, then I moved to The Mantle and loved it, then to this. all are as brilliant as each other.

then of course, Marrow.

The Mantle was the only one of the first 3 that took a while to grow on me. I just thought it dragged in certain areas and now I don't really notice it, which is why I ended up 5'ing it too.

I found Agalloch when i watched a snowboarding film called That's It, That's All. Limbs was one of the tracks. Suffice to say that film kicked ass.

It's different for everyone. Even with the disappointment I feel for Marrow, I still think it's a great album. Just not up to their usual standards. Either way, they're one of my favorite bands, if not my favorite.

Also, look at all the 5's in here. This is great.

i think at times marrow does dip below their normal standards (Into The Painted Grey), but at the same time I think at times it transcends them (Black Lake Nidstang).

if this isn't a classic, I don't know what is.

I listened to their discography in the order in which it was released, and I used to have Ashes at a 5 until I realized that The Mantle was an infinitely better record.

Oh and Into The Painted Grey is the worst song they've ever done.

Omg Into the Painted Grey was the best thing that came out of Marrow.

i loved how cinematic and dramatic Ashes was, but I liked The Mantle for its subtlety. i think they're equally brilliant records.

it was my least favorite track

Nah I think The Watcher's Monolith is the best song on Marrow without a doubt. And funny that you mention that Crysis because I'm gonna listen to all of them right now, since I already started with this one. Gonna be a good night.

I've no idea why you don't see how absolutely mindblowing Black Lake Nidstang is to me, that will probably perplex me forever.

It just bores me at some points and it's amazing at others. Very inconsistent song for me. Again, I think it would've been better if it would've been trimmed down.
