For sure, but when I heard TDaG for the first time I didn't know about this so I personally don't associate it with this. In that case, the personal connection and memories outweigh anything else. Not so with this. I barely got to connect with this one on a personal level before the news got out.

My point was that art is, in most cases, is a reflection of the one who's creating it. Brand New's lyrics, to me, have always seemed like they were written and inspired by a place of great guilt and remorse. Sorry if it seemed like I was generalizing. That wasn't my intention.

its a reflection of who they think they are. plenty of artists suffer from depression, and therefore feel shitty about themselves, and therefore write lyrics about what a piece of shit they are when really they might not be as bad as they think they are. so i dont think lyrics like that are actually indicative of whether theyve done something this fucked up or not.



the only reason this is less surprising is because a lot of this stuff seems to be coming from sadboi pop punk/emo artists.

I just assumed Jesse was some guy who cheated on bitches and got cheated on and felt bummed at times and was kind of a goofball at times. You basically all did too.
