This is just outside my top 5 of the decade, but probably my most played aside from High Violet and The King of Limbs: Live from the Basement.

Lullabies tails off significantly, it’s a little hefty - let’s say it could do with losing a few pounds. This is as lean as they come, absolutely no fat on this whatsoever. It’s also Homme’s most introspective record, this helps people connect with it in a different way.

I understand people preferring Rated R/SFTD over this as they’re very different and chock full of high quality cuts, but preferring Lullabies strikes me as odd simply due to the seemingly apparent inconsistencies. All in the eye of the beholder though I guess.

It still blows my mind that I now prefer this to an album I’ve been listening to for 18 years, one which also had such a profound impact on my musical ‘development’.

Yeah, the highlights on Lullabies are better anything here aside from that godlike closing pair, but that album has some serious deadweights

this album is just way too damn consistent to be below Lullabies

I wouldn’t say better necessarily, Someone’s in the Wolf is perhaps of comparable quality to the majority of this though. The closing pair here is the best 1-2 punch in their discog, can’t argue with that.

Last two tracks on here are indeed amazing.

I wouldn't want to lose anything from Lullabies, except maybe Skin on Skin. It has a wonderful nocturnal, Halloween vibe to it that I really dig and sounds different from all their others.

There're some really nice straightforward alt. rock songs on there, along with some amazing longer songs like Tangled up in Plaid, Someone's in the Wolf, Blood is Love, and Long Slow Goodbye, being among their best.

Not saying Lullabies or even Rated R is better than this, but the former has struck me as being underrated, so thought I'd show some love for it.

Yeah there are a few tracks on lullabies I could do without. But the sum of it's best parts is fucking amazing imo

This is easily their best imo, Rated R comes closest to it.
