It doesn't. This is the sound of a tired and frustrated band branching out of sheer desperation stemming from a trying time for the members and their fan base at large. Is it awful? Far from it, but it slips up far too often to hold itself together. The ideas brought forth seem forced as opposed to inspired, and the chemistry of the band falters when it counts the most.
Figured i should at least justify my 2.5 for an album everyone seems to love lol
