So far, "Mr. God" is my favorite of the two singles. I have a feeling "Everyone Dies Alone" will hit harder in the context of the album.

Okay now I’m worried, just listened to the Nik Nocturnal interview with Misha about the new album… basically he let Matt (drummer) call the shots and took out cool riffs/song parts out of the tracks just to fit the loneliness/depression theme of the album. No wonder both singles are so boring.

" Matt (drummer) call the shots and took out cool riffs/song parts out of the tracks just to fit the loneliness/depression theme of the album."

If that's what you gleaned from the interview you're seriously lacking media skills. Matt pitched an idea that guided the creative process. His idea of the word "loneliness" was the spark for the rest of the guys to start creating. That's literally it.

@tusk wrong. Misha plainly stated Matt was overseeing the whole concept and telling him to cut out guitar riffs and song sections

yeah periphery has been really collaborative since the clear ep, they've been really open about that. pretty distinct shift in sound from p1 and p2 which were mainly bulb demoes built out. those, especially p1, were misha's babies.

Actually super enlightening discourse into their approach with the new album, the sheer chance at hearing a "cohesive" periphery album makes me nostalgic for Juggernaut

After hearing the album and Misha's statement I'm convinced most the best parts were taken off the album.

Could be subverting expectations yeah, would make sense in how've they've marketed the new album so far

@owmysnauze you make it sound like he was cutting shit haphazardly instead of doing what literally every band does when they're writing songs. Cool parts get cut from songs all the time, especially if you're trying to create a cohesive product. I'd think critics would be excited that Periphery kept it reigned in like they did on Juggernaut.

New album is definitely their weakest but I still enjoyed it. Feels like a grower not a shower

I like it more than most of their material lol. The straightforward nature mostly worked for me. Theres only a few duds
