I agree if you're talking about someone who stole a candy bar. But personally I don't think someone who commits a sex crime should ever really be forgiven. I mean the victim is changed from that moment on and they'll never truly be the same. It's kind of hard to even imagine what that would feel like honestly.

I was raised under traditional/semi-modern Christian values, and my view has always been "he who hasn't sinned, cast the first stone." Obviously behavior like this must be condemned, and as a society we have a responsibility to ensure there are laws in place. But just from a personal standpoint, I'm not going to berate someone for the remainder of their life on earth. Forgive as you would want to be forgiven, no matter the transgression because judgment does not belong to us.

With all that said, it would be a lot easier for me to try to warm back up to Lacey had he directly apologized to his victims instead of being dodgy about his statement in order to avoid any real charges. I think that's why I am mostly indifferent about Brand New now; I have forgiven but not forgotten, and would mostly rather just listen to stuff that doesn't make me feel awkward.

agreed...I think they'll just vanish and go about their lives, putting brand new behind them. it's a shame for the music because science fiction feels wasted (in terms of touring, etc), but it's best for them to bow out and not try to keep going.
