"Still think the double Juggernaut albums are their best releases. This is after them though"

damn i was really buying into the hype after the first three songs. reptile really lives up to the hype, incredible stuff. i usually hate that kind of overblown musical theater shit but it's really good. maybe not my favorite song by them but composition wise it probably is their best, flows so well. blood eagle is awesome stupid heavy and chvrch bvrner is like periphery doing a dillinger song.
tapers off a bit for me after that. sentient glow especially feels like a throwaway since it was a reworked haunted shores song and satellites is one of their more weaker epic ballads. crush is a pretty cool experiment, kind of reminds me of a latter era linkin park song. really love its only smiles though, just a killer pop song much like catch fire was on p3. that direction just works for them. spencer sounds his best here, his higher screams have a bit more bite.
i actually really like how every periphery album is a grab bag of experiments, reworked old songs, different styles. less consistent but so much variety. never know what you're going to get! really good album but i'll still take p1 and 2.

knew you'd like Reptile dude, arguably their magnum opus. P5 imo sounds like they took Reptile and stretched it across an entire album, save one or two songs (Wax Wings, Thanks Nobuo)

yeah blood eagle and church burner go so hard, have a ton of josh travis/danza energy. didn’t expect that!
and yeah really impressed by reptile. i need to go back and listen to racecar a few times and see how it compares. that p5 description is very intriguing!

Album is insanely frontloaded tbh but the rest of it is still good, P5 is a bit more consistent

garden is pretty forgettable but bones is solid. and sentient glow just is so out of place. it’s a fine song but eh. don’t really think they improved it much.
and satellites is just a bit dull to me, takes too long to get going

actually love Satellites when I'm in a somber mood, gr8 for night drives. I compare it to absolomb/lune in the sense that it's a slow burn to a satisfying climax. I love Thanks Nobuo off P5 for similar reasons but most people here don't jive well with it, as well as Silhouette, banger tracks. Thanks Nobuo is huge P2 vibes, so is Wax Wings.

Satellites is good but... it's just a retread of Lune, eh... Sentient Glow needed something more, agree

I harken Satellites to being more self aware to the pessimistic views of the world in a modern sense whereas Lune is more of a Meatloaf style song to an ex lover, which is more of a traditional trope in music regardless of genre.

never gotten your take that satellites is a retread of lune lmao. they both have pretty radically different tones and satellites kinda becomes a regular periphery song in the second half. it's like comparing nothing else matters and sanitarium lol
