It feels like it takes more of a post-rock approach to structure, which i'm actually surprised it took off like it did since TikTokers have the attention span of a pack mule and most TikTok music is like 2 minutes and doesn't genre-bend much.
But it's a journey, the heavier sections are accentuated by the lighter sections. it's basically alt-pop/djent with a post-rock influenced, sorta "crescendocore" structure. i could see people saying it does too much but, again, it feels like a journey that i like to be on.

can someone plz recommend some half-decent pop/metal fusion that is NOT
・reaper-era Seiko Oomori
・BABYMETAL
・Devin Townsend/Anneke van Giersbergen collab stuff
・Passcode
・Rina Sawayama when that was a thing she did
・Poppy EAT ep
・those one-or-two acceptable nu-era BMTH songs
(or, obviously, any rank bullshit like this)
half interested to hear, half curious to see how deep that canon goes

didnt even realize Devin and Anneke had a bunch of collabs, i need to get on that both of them rule

I wouldn't even call LP pop metal tbh - they went straight to radio-pandering alt rock with the (very) occasional screm thrown in

I think the word you’re looking for is “popular” tundra. Just because your coworkers listen to it doesn’t make it coworker metal smh
