"damn this is one of my fav production jobs of the 2010s lol. marston has gotten better but i still love it"
indeed

i mean it’s why i refuse to rate this album. the production thing is absolutely a personal bias that I think invalidates any critique I would have of the music, so I don’t think any opinion I might have is valuable.
I’m mostly just lamenting that it stops me from enjoying this one, because the preceding album is one of my all time favorites.

the production has a kinda unique sound to it, i could see it being a turn off
that being said the prod objectively bumps in the 1996 kia sportage

“one of the handful of albums where the production makes it impossible to listen to the album.”
maybe you forgot to switch your hearing aid on

I know Obscura is considered a classic but I genuinely think that this is their best album by a margin. It’s so well composed and recorded, especially the guitars. The vocals on this are also a big improvement compared to past releases.

it is better in my opinion, it's the evolution of Obscura and From Wisdom to Hate, more fully realized Gorguts. Even though FWTH was kind of an odd mix of the Obscura style and old school death metal of the earlier stuff, in a way.

funny i see fwth as the perfection of a sound that wasnt yet fully formed on obscura.

'funny i see fwth as the perfection of a sound that wasnt yet fully formed on obscura.'
FWTH is too clinical. Obscura has a uniqueness, dare I say 'soul'
