mortal man is too long and gimmicky, I don't find it interesting enough to warrant repeated listens. I don't feel like 'i' fits in well with the album and I hate the 'I love myself' hook the whole song really just feels bland/ radio friendly to me.

I still kind of like u, but it is on the weaker tracks imo just because of the obnoxious cry rapping.

the first time i heard u i thought it was dogshit, and then i considered it in the context of the album. when i realized it was presented as a deep confessional in front of a mirror it just made a lot more sense and seemed more poignant.

i don't find i gimmicky because of how insanely catchy it is, and the female vox gel so well with kendrick's. if anything i think it's his hookiest pop song (just a shame about the latter half)

"where do you see in kendrick's music that he bites this guy"

his entire flow/delivery

I don't think 'i' is gimmicky just kind of tacked on for the sake of having a super catchy hook friendly radio song. Most of the other songs are much more complex and interesting.

Don't forget I still have the album rated as a 4.5, nothing on the album is necessarily bad to me just some areas I don't like nearly as much as others. I feel like 'i' isn't as forward thinking as the rest of the album.

my bad man, i applied the 'gimmicky' comment to i by accident.

anyway, what you say is fair, and i shared those sentiments as well (initially). at any rate, we can both agree kendrick is the bomb, and that's all that really matters

this has sing about me (which is infinitely better than anything on tpab), sherane, and art of peer pressure (and the rest is awesome too, obvs).

yeah dude I agree this has stronger highlights but as a whole album i think tpab holds up more

sherane is maybe my favorite Kendrick song next to sing about me, but like yall said I think tpab is slightly better as a whole

Momma has really grown on me, actually, although I don't fully get the lyrics on that track aside the second verse
