Go Lions [5]. Some cool upsets this week. Would've really enjoyed a Panthers win there (or rather, a KC loss). Tonight's game is gonna be fun too I should think.

Obsession is not blowing over. As a first time NFL viewer this season it's crazy to me how addicting this sport is. It's been twelve weeks of deepdiving with podcasts and at least three games a week (often with a redzone on Sunday night for me). It's a shame that the Superbowl is on a Sunday through Monday night for me, starting at like midnight. Probably gonna take a Monday off for it anyway.

Nice. Even as a relative 'vet' (in European terms at least) I continue to be perplexed by the NFL sometimes, just when you think you've seen it all etc. that last 3 mins of the Cowboys and Comms game was utter pandemonium, lol

Vikes @ Bears was another good one. Titans beating the Texans too. The divisional games really delivering this week. And yeah the Panthers were solid. You just had the feeling it wouldn't happen for them, but nice to see it wasn't a complete walkover

"not really, people like to use that argument but to me he still has no place being mentioned with the greats"

kinda need to just throw the stats out the window when evaluating guys from that long ago though... dude was a first team all pro in a year where he threw 15 TDs / 17 INTs... and then in another season got 3rd in MVP voting while throwing 17/19... and then he quarterbacked the only afl team to ever win the superbowl in an entirely different season (in one of the only seasons he threw more TDs than INTs lmao).

he's def not like a montana tier guy but he was def elite for his era, and arguably the goat afl quarterback. could've had a much better career without all the injuries in the post-SB years... but def belongs in the hall of fame for the same reasons a guy like kurt warner belongs. he's maybe more "iconic" than he was good but he certainly wasn't purely a tv idol either.

"old time football stats are wild. actually anyone know any good early nfl documentaries or stuff like that besides nfl film stuff? been watching this cool youtube channel lately that goes over a lot of early college football history before ww2."

yeah i'd be interested in this too. anything like that pre-SB era / pre-NFL films is hard to come by. they just simply weren't documenting the games like that prior to nfl films being founded. i'm assuming there has to be a high quality afl documentary out there.

1983 doc: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-21XaBFvU2E
1994 doc: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FYYsQVBGin0

there was one doc I wanted to post but I am afraid it might've been deleted
also there's a comprehensive AFL documentary as well: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pX97uAixsYQ

I highly recommend NFL Throwback for anything else, it tries to cover everything possible.

apologies you asked for non-nfl films stuff
that might be a little tricky but there's a lot of fanmade docs on YouTube as well

the snow bowl this past Thursday was by far my favorite game of the season. Winston throwing more yards in a blizzard than Watson was able to do the entire season is absurd. Winston has re-invigorated the boys.

bears have essentially gotten their dream scenario since firing shane waldron: caleb suddenly looks fucking awesome and leading successful game winning drives in games they miraculously end up losing which will help get eberflus fired.

and will def be checking out those links after work fripp

as for steelers/browns (i've somehow gone like a month without talking about the steelers here)... wild wild 4th quarter in a weekend full of them. cleveland has quietly become a house of horrors for us in the 2020s so i'm not shocked at all we dropped that game... even if some of tomlin's clock management felt like snatching defeat from the jaws of victory at the end.

love u thanks. hope you are well. i need to check some of this stuff out, books too if anyone has any recs. just such a fascinating period and i love history.

https://www.youtube.com/@WrongedSports/videos

this is the channel i referenced, if you're into really in depth football history like how notre dame grew into a power in the 1910's out of nowhere or football during the 1920's or why the military academies were so good back then this is for you. all eras are covered mostly pre-2000 though. really quality research and clips used. so cool to watch football from the 1920s, breaks my brain. highly recommended for football history nerds. i find it very interesting at least.

Is it crazy to think there's a chance the Broncos go 10-7 or even 11-6 this year?
They have at least 3-4 easily winnable games coming up. Browns? Colts? the Bengals who have been playing very weirdly this year? Chargers and Chiefs could go either way, my guess is split Chargers and lose out to KC.

Here is my delusional prediction for the entire rest of season for Denver:
Broncos W vs Browns, 28-24
Broncos W vs Colts, 26-9
Broncos W vs Chargers, 31-28
Broncos W vs Bengals - 24-23
Broncos L vs Chiefs - 17-16

you're a broncos fan i'm guessing? those are all sneaky tough games, i wouldn't be shocked if a rookie qb implodes down the stretch. browns have life with jameis and a good d, colts are always hanging around although they do get them at home. but i do trust sean payton. idiots doubted him and called him skinny mike mccarthy smh. my comp for nix was always a young alex smith and he looks like it!

yup i am. i have faith in Bo, I don't see the Colts winning cuz look how chaotic their office has been with QB stuff, i'd be shocked tbh. worst record I could see realistically happening is 8-9/9-8, seeing how Denver handled Atlanta is a good sign considering Atlanta is currently 1st in their division
Young Alex Smith is a good comp I've also heard a Ryan Tannehill comparison which seems fair

yeah that's a good one. he's nothing special to me but a great system guy, he obviously proved that at oregon. seems like a good dude too. good for him.

Bo Nix looks good but no chance they win 12 games lol.

Yeah I've been rocking with Bo as my fantasy starter and since week 4 onwards he's been doing good enough to not lose me weeks, consistently putting up at least 12-13 FP even in his tougher weeks
"Bo Nix looks good but no chance they win 12 games lol." I was thinkin' 10 or 11, 12 is a high bar but hey I wouldn't complain!
