I have grown to love the chorus of both Hearts/Wires and Phantom Bride so much

idk the lyrics in phantom bride are pretty bad and his voice sort of bothers me in the chorus

Yeah I don't know how to feel about Gore. It's definitely a grower for me. I'd say it's a solid 3.5 right now, tied with the S/T. Some songs feel like they got bored in the writing session, take Hearts/Wires for instance.
A bit disappointed overall but we'll see if my view changes over the next few weeks. Top 3 songs are; Phantom Bride, Xenon and (L)Mirl (how do you even pronounce that track name?)

with this and gore, this band no longer interests me in the slightest unfortunately.

I can't stand Alice in Chains and I'm not crazy about the solo (although it has grown on me) and i still think Phantom Bride is one of the best songs on the album

Gore is growing on me heavily, and I'm still figuring out Delgado's nuances which is pretty fun.
I don't know about the SNW comparisons, though. I hear stuff from their s/t and from KNY, too. It draws from pretty much what they have been doing over the years, but each song demands a hell lot of attention. It sounds less immediate (IMO), so I'm not sure if it benefited not being produced by Nick Raskulinecrosdeathinelizzzz, since both of DE and KNY sounded a bit more straightforward. I like the subtle atmospherics and all that, but no song jumps out as in either of those albums. SNW had the perfect balance of both subtle and straightforward.
It's probably their most laid back album, too. And not WP laid back, since its not nearly as weird or adventurous as that album, even if it seems as it is trying to be. Not necessarily a bad thing, I guess?
Eh, that's my first impression anyways, so that's just me blabbering. melikes is what I mean lol

Live in New Zealand so picked up the cd this morning. First listen through I got kinda bored, so this album will either end up being a major grower, or not much of one. A little bit dissapointed by the choruses tbh as I absolutely love the chorus for Prayers/Triangles. There's some pretty interesting instrumental stuff and nice verses though for sure.

kind of have to adjust to this odd yet awesome unconventional Gore sound. [2]
There is just something about Gore that reminds me a little too much of Dream Theater, I first heard it on Doomed User first and now i'm hearing it on the majority of the album.
Solid 3.5/5 first listen. Hopefully it grows on me like the rest of their albums have. I probably would have given White Pony a 2 the first time I heard that, and now it's a 5 so I have a lot of hope.
