The music and the lyrics and pretty much everything. This actually only has two or three songs that I would consider to be depressing.

Terrible Love, Sorrow, Anyone's Ghost, Afraid of Everyone, Runaway, England, and Vanderlyle are all depressing to me tbh.



The only one off Boxer that I can easily consider depressing is Mistaken for Strangers. Slow Show, Apartment Story, Start a War, and Gospel are kinda sad tho.
