the idea of skipping them is just preposterous to me.

i've got it at 4.5 but those have no bearing on the rating. they just kinda feel like dead end tracks. Speak To Me and Shine On get the ball rolling way better. wouldn't mind grabbing the 2011(?) Remaster of Animals.

They just tie the album together structurally so well.

i haven't but Dogs has an opener feel to me, the way it fades in. maybe would be missing something after Sheep fades out.

I love Pigs on the Wing being the beginning and end of Animals. Like the album comes full circle.

Dogs, Pigs and Sheep are (fittingly) like the meat of that album

Pigs on the Wing 1 and 2 are the bread

The meat tastes fine by itself, but it isn't a sandwich unless the bread is there to hold it all together

yeah? yeah

Nah I'm chubby as it is, a visit to KFC will probably tip me over the edge to full-blown fat

if the elastic of your underwear flips over on its own, then you're fat

i'm normally keen for a little bread to hold it together but in the case of Animals i could see myself just rippin' and a-tearin' into the filling. could take or leave the bread. like just grab some cutlery and go. whereas Dark Side and WYWH, those are definitely sandwiches. you try to throw the bread away on those and it's a bit of a mess.

and The Wall is more bread than meat. it's like 15 slices and you kinda wonder how to even approach it at all.
