Adding First Red Rays to the album standout tracks.

Listening for the third time and Untethered comes across as pure mania after the brutal simmering second half on Seething and Scattered

“Aaron’s influence on this is massive. Sometimes this veers into Sumac territory and I’m like “yup Aaron wrote that”. Dude is never gonna run out of riffs. Praise be“ (2)

I think this is what I was getting a before and also why I’m a lil confused by the whole ‘their most immediate’ claims, I mean the nature of the progressions are almost a tad obtuse at times the way these songs develop in unpredictable, non-linear fashion or whatever. Then again some of the individual passages are straightforward and identifiable from the get-go. Plus there’s a few could-be iconic moments that feel distinct and memorable.

Erm, so yeah it’s simultaneously both somehow? Cool.

I find it funny how this came out of nowhere and just kind of obliterated every other album thats come out this year for me.

Same here. It's absolutely unbelievable. Love the surprise drop too, makes it even more special.

I must be in the minority for not being drawn in by AT’s vocals for Neurosis. I love ISIS but my initial feeing is that I would enjoy this album so much more if it was just SVT doing the vocals. Something isn’t working for me when AT is providing the vocals. It made me realise how awesome SVT actually is. He carries such emotional weight. Musically, this could be the best they’ve ever done.

Im kind of just seperating this into two bands Neurosis classic and Neo Neurosis with Aaron. Im also just glad to have a project with Turner thats not super wanky improv (its always good wank but eh)

I’m listening to Panopticon as I type and AT vocals are amazing. Just hearing him with Neurosis is somehow just not vibing with me. I shall persevere!

It probably doesn’t help that I’ve had Alone in a World of Wounds on constant repeat this last week. That album just floored me.

Turners an incredible vocalist and super talented, i think he was probably the only one to fit i guess.
