This is by far the catchiest album of the year so far. Straight up bangers front to back, I keep getting back to it when I just feel like putting an energetic good time on.

^ YES. My first like 10 times listening it bothered me so much. I am so glad someone in this thread (possibly you Odal?) figured it out for me.

It's a dope ass vibe to take cues from, and one that feels fresh a modern band. Coheed's nods to Gen X rock always put a smile on my face though. I loved Jessie's Girl 2 lol

Oh I totally misread that and thought you were talking about "Goodbye Sunshine". Yeah, "Someone Who Can" hits those 80's vibes.

Also, if we're going to talk stolen riffs, "Blind Side Sonny" is the Bluey theme.

Someone Who Can feels like it could fit on the latest Nothing But Thieves' record. Love that vibe tbh and because it's the only song on the record that has it, it makes for a breath of fresh air in the second half.

BSS riff is the most annoying thing I've ever heard in my life, i'll just skip the bluey theme.

I need to listen more to this album to cement how I feel about it, outside of it being consistently solid, and scattered with Afterman reprises.
But my initial impression is actually that I might like V2 more? The lows on V2 are lower than anything on this album for me (looking at you, Bad Man), but the highs on V2 were some of my favorite moments in their discography since their first three albums, perhaps even more than Afterman.
Either way, this album definitely has their best guitar work in many years. Love an audible Travis.

I thought it was harmless but there's a reason the original is composed the way it is. Ill give it points for creativity.
