i just think it’s all of his worst tendencies esp in his vocal inflections mixed with easily the worst and most dated prod of his career. maybe less dated than some of the gkmc

tracks but those are kinda charming in their time-and-place feeling whereas a track like humble is just… all around terrible

Mr. Morale and Damn really are not that far apart quality wise. Morale is just more bloated while Damn is a bit more concise but they have the same ratio of bad and good songs.

Cut Loyalty, Love, and God from DAMN and it goes from a 7/10 to a 9/10 album. Those are the only tracks on a Kendrick album I'd genuinely call mid to bad. Even on Mr Morale I actually went from thinking it had some skippable tracks, to now thinking every song is essential and enjoyable in its own way. Far better than Damn, and this album imo

Anyway, interesting to see such vastly different opinions on his latest run of 3 albums when the avg consensus seems to be the same across the board
