"Yes, BI are heavily influenced by prog bands on this record but to suggest that an homage or influence somehow cheapens or reduces the quality of the album is flat out wrong."
I agree, to an extent. It didn't seem to stop the argument being used against Vektor though. My point is that to me, BI are wearing their influences proudly here, more so than anything produced by Vektor (a band who were constantly lambasted for their influences, even if a lot of it was 'aesthetics'). So yeah if we're measuring it, to me they were more original. These guys did have a strong sound of their own up until the ambient release and now it's descending ever-so-slightly into parody, at times. I believe that is pergais because this release is somewhat transitional(?) and it could be that they need to iron out some kinks
Still a fun album, for clarification.

This is a good album but not a very unique one. They had a character all their own that isn't here much.

the message part 1 is so sick and then part two seems like it comes out of nowhere and feels like a disjointed mess that stops all the momentum part 1 had going for it. and then the end of part 3 is incredible lol. i am throughly confused after listening to this album, and i'll give it some more spins, but i feel like the way they tried to shoehorn so many different things into here just doesn't work for me which is a bummer given how much i enjoyed Timewave Zero, HHOTHR, and Starspawn. I feel like that EP they released before this would have been a much better way to try to fuse all of the different genres together instead of mashing them all into the same song.

Gameofmetal. After a discogrun I can disagree,. There's definitely a path taken and definitely a rather unique ID going on. I give that they're now more of a prog metal than a pure DM band at their core. But most BI time signatures are definitelly here too.

It's funny that TR is so divisive. Some people in the thread made hating it their whole identity.

This album is already getting a bit stale for me after a few listens.
Solid release but I really do not understand the hype these guys get.

I don't like death metal, but I like this. Probably going to make my top ten this year.

Vektor comparison resonates for me. I liked Black Future much more than Terminal Redux and feel similarly about Starspawn vs this.

they play music good and nice wiv scary growly bits and lovely space bits that sound good like ur in space

Honestly, nice to be here while the general consensus is that they're good, before the inevitable backlash occurs for having become widely successful.
Good times for the minute.
