I have to give State Faults another spin. I enjoyed it plenty, way more than I usually do for albums that style, but I still could feel large sections of it sort of bleeding together into a fog of similar sounding screams. But I only listened like twice, and the continued relentless hype it's getting is re-piquing my interest.

It is a fantastic record so you should def give it another shot, Sowing! Maybe you werent in the right mood or maybe it just isnt your cup of tea too ofc
Does anyone know btw if there are any meaning behind the album artwork on this? I love it but i dont know if is just completely random or if it actually represents something

@Lassie, here you go:
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boxer_at_Rest
"Terme Boxer was worn down and brought to exhaustion, as the statue shows. Gallico believed that the Terme Boxer statue depicts the boxer as having lost the contest"
Feels like a perfect analogy for the themes on display here, and more generally life in 2024.

I have to point out their singer looks like grown up Harry Potter and the album art looks like this

The screams on Secret History sound exactly like Suffocate for Fuck Sake from the Blazing Fires era. Kind of a niche comparison but that's the first thing that stood out to me.

The State Faults album is great, but the diversity and weirdness here speaks to me more. The SF is a good scramz/hardcore album, this is just a little more encompassing artistically

I feel the exact same way. Really enjoyed the new State Faults, but this album is just exhilerating.

this is more ambitious for sure and i know foxing better as a band but state faults def gets the leg up for me. j feels like it accomplishes what it sets out to do better. theres some stuff on here that really glaringly embodies the idea that going weirder does not result in a better song

this is all the things everyone says it is but also is not very good

literally howling at ian cohen saying hell 99 is the first foxing song where it sounds like the band are having *fun*. what a sunless creature.

Gonna write my own review for this. Gonna be pretty standard and boring old style but man I havent felt like writing a review in literally years until now.
