Aren't those guys due? Esoteric is one of my favorite DM albums of the past, well, since it came out lol.

ok so i usually tend to sit on an album for a bit before i really make my mind on it but the riffs, transitions, fills, solos, melodies, everything about this album is absolutely massive, probably one of the best metal albums in the last 5 years at least

glad they don't. I find solos overbearing in many cases

This is by far the best metal album I've listened the past few years. I'd even go as far and say this is probably the best Tech Death Album ever written. It is such a fresh and unique take on TDM, I've never heard anything like this before, and the execution is practically flawless. There is no weakness to be found on the entire record, simply an outstanding masterpiece.

Lol as much as I do like this album people are getting silly with these takes. This isn't some crazy departure from other proggy tech death but it is well done

Someone in this thread said this was like a "less roided out Archspire". That's pretty accurate. Also has better songwriting though.
But yeah, it's almost impossible to do something truly groundbreaking in metal at this point, just like it's almost impossible to come up with a truly original story idea. That being said, nothing wrong with fusing a bunch of different stuff together in a relatively unique way, which is exactly what's going on here.

Yeah after a few more spins, I actually dig Sun Eater more. It feels like there's more variety not just instrumentally but vocally as well, and theres a sense of higher energy. Moon Healer is right up there though.

This just feels so much more sure of itself than Sun Eater, that goes a long way for me. I actually agree that Sun Eater feels more "high energy" but that also makes it more chaotic in ways that don't always work.
Definitely has to do with the fact that they've had 10 years since then to vibe as a band.

Not sure why but this didn't click with me all that much. Obviously fantastic musicianship but the songs didn't do that much for me

" more chaotic in ways that don't always work"
Sun Eater is always working bruh I don't feel like it's very chaotic at all though that may be because I know the songs well at this point.

Yeah I can see after a decade, they certainly have honed in their sound and Moon Healer certainly shows that. Perhaps my mind will change with time as to which album is my favorite since both are still new to me lol

Same. I've only listened to Sun Eater twice, but it didn't seem as fluid and cohesive as this. More a collection of mostly banging tracks that could be reordered, and sections within them that could be moved around.

People calling this the best tech death album ever when they've never heard of Luster of Pandeominum smh
