Is he overrated? I feel like besides djent threads on sput I don't see people talk about them hardly at all. Youtube reactions maybe, but top comments in those are always going to say its the best band or the best singer etc. I think he's quite capable, quite good.

"Dan has to be the most overrated singer in modern prog imo."
That's an interesting take. I don't agree, but I'm not sure who I'd give that critique to...

As the guy who never misses a chance to call us out for doing what I'm about to do, I'm gonna go ahead and sieze this opportunity to assign that critique to Periphery Pete and have myself a good chuckle.

The issue with saying Spencer is, sure he gets some praise, but he gets just as much criticism. So I would argue that he's not overrated at all.

Yea, Periphery Pete is a true marmite tier vocalist. Generally he is fairly rated imo

however, there are vocalists out there who could excel in this sound but don't fit the bill, perfect example is Rody Walker. That dude and AJ Channer.

Just watched Legion live on youtube and as expected, Dan cannot sing as well as in the studio.
His screams are great. Cleans are mostly fine, but he changed some parts (skipped one line, sang the whole "I've been dreaming" part way lower).
Don't get me wrong, performance is still good, but I am a bit disappointed.
Oh well, I will be singing this way worse (feeling sad for the people that will stand near me) when I hear them again next year.

Changing the lines to make it singable is completely legit imo, especially if the studio version is as unsingable as this one. But I understand the disappointment

yeah im fine with him adjusting melodies a bit to maintain consistent quality in the set especially because god knows i sure as fuck cant sing legion as is lmao. thats a steep one alright. plus he does that on portals and has a lot of good changes so i dig that its a lil different for the live show. feels a lil more exclusive to the moment

honestly the balls on this dude to put it in the setlist at all.
Heard a couple interviews now where he, and Amos, talked about how they weren't holding back anymore. Fuckin' shows on this album.

It literally has the heaviest and most melodic shit they've ever done, and everything in between. For a fan of the band this thing is everything we could have wanted.
