Not touching that take with a 39 1/2 foot pole lol
And yeah like I get you need to make money as a musician, but that kind of marketing is deceptive and not fair to fans. There are other ways to go about making a profit that don't involve turning your record into a shady DLC-type thing.

"do you not like subboreal?"
I will say that is the one song that stuck out and I actually felt the grooves a bit. Everything else is a total snoozefest and I believe there's no worse musical sin than being boring. I'm actually incredulous at all the glowing praise being heaped on this album. I guess we'll see how it fares once the dust settles.

Because it's not really meant to "go hard" is the thing, and if you go in expecting that, you don't receive that. It's fine if you don't agree with that direction though, but I think the way that the album flows and uses its aesthetic is very effective.
Time will tell where this will settle in their overall discog, but having heard this several times now, I don't think I'm going to be disliking it anytime soon.

That's the thing tho. I don't think music has to "go hard" to be enticing, but it still needs to offer something I can gel with. To me this just has nothing going for it. There are no interesting melodies, song compositions, riffs, rhythm arrangements, leads (are there any?), or atmospheric moments whatsoever. It's essentially an abject failure across the board, but I still threw on a .5 for name recognition and I didn't think Subboreal was overtly terrible.

Unconformities might be the song that tops rhyacian for me, and is 100% the best song of the year so for of any band. It's absolutely incredible and when i was listening to this album for the first time i couldnt get past it because it just ordered me to replay itself at least 5 times. Holy shit man
