Starting the new one now. That opening feels like a throw back and hopefully the albums a full on mix of the 2010s era

I can see that. By the way, your sound off: you mention peers who achieve greater albums than ES. Who are they? To me ES are pretty unique, but if there's greater stuff I am missing out, sure, hit me up!

Meant they never really reached the popularity heights of BMTH or Architects at their peaks. Enter Shikari are class but they kind of stuck to their own lane wwhich is good overall. They always feel like they are on the cusp of exploding in a way to me

Aah, I see. Yea, I guess ES have their quirky attitude that can turn people off, but it's what I love about them :D

I really like shadow drops, like Rou said it helps listening to the thing as a whole, as it's meant to be

^ this is how an album should be. These days singles and playlists are how the masses consume music but I would think people on an outdated site like this generally listen to full albums

I doubt more than 10% of the albums i ever listened to a single was my favorite song.

i don't mind one single but yeah it's out of control now. most bigger bands release half the album now as singles. easy for me to ignore on a personal level but i hate how it causes so many preconceptions.

Think this is easily my least favourite Shikari album. Coming back to it after hearing LOSE YOUR SELF just solidified that for me too. It's just lifeless, and when it isn't lifeless, it feels rough (Pls Set me on fire is just a headache of a track, I don't get it lol) Giant Pacific Octopus is probably the only song I truly find pleasure listening to, although I don't really mind It Hurts and Bloodshot either.
I don't get what they did differently on the new album, but it definitely regains some of the Shikari magic in my opinion.

Maybe I was a little harsh on this, just gave it another whirl and it's pretty fun actually. It has some moments. Still a mixed bag though, don't really care for Pls Set Me on Fire, Dead Wood or Jailbreak at all.
