Aimless ambience just unnecessarily prolongs the runtime, those birds are not needed. The highs on this are easy 5/5 though.

It’s the album that most warrants it in my collection, there’s a lot of padding in certain releases, ‘progressive’ ones in particular, but this really does take it too far at times & would be near flawless without the poorly executed ambient sections, the infamous ‘birds/whale noises’ one especially.

The ambient sections go on for too long on this album. If they were cut the album would be almost perfect and the title track could be added without the album being longer than it already is. Also those "birds" are actually frogs.

I'd never thought about this, mostly because I've always had the title track as the opener of the record, but I can't believe the band didn't cut out some of the bullshit so they could add the title track back on. Damn drugs
