'random ass albums will make their way to people who got no business hearing them'
next time I'll make sure I'm on the pre-approved lists for such things, presumably you have access to these?

yeah demon the committee just let me know, youre not allowed to listen to anything other than drake now, sorry

And yeah, RYM has some weird quirks... like why do certain users insist on awarding the lowest scores to releases that they believe don't stack up to an artist's previous material? They won't say anything particularly negative bar 'by the numbers for insert x artist' etc. or 'their previous stuff is better' and apparently that's worth slapping a good hard 1/5 on it. No wonder overall averages seem so low.

no I meant sonic, he must have access... otherwise how would he know what he's qualified to listen to? I wouldn't want to get myself into bother. Although if you have this info too, I would be grateful to receive it

Rym averages seem low because aggregate scores everywhere else are generally too high.

I don't entirely disagree, but the way in which those averages are arrived at is all skew-whiff - i.e. there are too many high ratings, too many low ones and not enough 'in between'.

Are you talking about the distribution on the album or for users? Because users who 5 almost everything have no effect on a records score.
|

johnny glad you googled mervyn peake but youre still a pussy
|
| |
sonic you ever seen the bbc adaptation from the early 2000s?
hoping neil gaiman gets off his ass and makes his tv series, i just want peake's work to be more widely recognised.

as for RYM every dude there is like if cyclotron and andcas (old school ref for ya) had a baby
still you can find some smart people in the mix, ive found lots of great music this website is clueless about

oh really? Hmm, appears as though I have no idea how that website calculates averages then, haha. Although what if a user was to '5 and 1' in almost equal measure, yet very rarely use the other ratings? So their average score wouldn't necessarily be uncommonly high or low, but they would still be guilty of what I said above (just depends on what they are rating / their preferences as to which releases were 5s or 1s).
