Currently listening to this for the first time. So far, so good - definitely more mainstream sounding than their previous works.

Yep, Leprous doing the Pitfalls thing in a more spontaneous way. I hope they shake things up a little with the next one though

Love this album. Love Pitfalls. Love Malina. Imo Leprous are doing the shift to a more ~mainstream~ (your average joe still isn't touching this band with a 40 foot pole) sound in the absolute best/right way.
Pitfalls did take the longest to grow on me but there is so much subtle brilliance on the album it's insane, and so many moments that absolutely grab me by my anus and explode it to shreds. The climax of Distant Bells is like a top 3 Leprous moment in their whole discography for me.
The Congregation is probably still my favorite but I can also still just listen to The Congregation anytime I want that sound, and while I get the Einar-centric direction doesn't have everyone thrilled I think calling it the Einar solo show is pretty ignorant, and while they might not be going ham right out front as much there are some absolutely insane understated instrumental bits on the later albums and I looooooove that shit. Honestly I just love to see a band evolving like this.
I was a bit worried when they dropped Castaway Angels and announced this one so soon after Pitfalls, honestly at that point I thought maybe it *would* become the Einar show but the full album proved me very wrong and at this point I love Castaway Angels.
The only Leprous album I dislike/can't listen to is TPS (roast me, I know) and it's the same thing with early Katatonia, the vocals sound like dogshit and I can't get past it.

good comment (except for that last bit about katatonia)

Through the power of AI in a few years I'll probably be able to listen to the entirety of Last Fair Deal Gone Down with like, Freddie Mercury on vocals instead, so it's fine.

I think Aphelion is better on the whole but Pitfalls has higher peaks.

So, Leprous really breaking their "new album every 2 years" streak, ey? Saw a post from Einar few days ago mentioning he's back to writing new music so not expecting anything new coming our way.
Either way as much as I love Einar's vocs, I hope it won't sound like this solo album, wasn't huge on it

Sooo, new album coming. Just opened my facebook and literally 5 mins ago they posted an image of Einar and Baard together with a caption "Drums and vocals for a NEW LEPROUS ALBUM is done 😳🎉"

Saw some drum tracking on Baard's IG that sounded sick as fuck, I don't think there's been an official announcement. Gonna have to find that bass tracking deng.
EDIT: o just saw the comment about vocals and drums being done dang siiiick

Yeah I'm curious if they go full ballad mode on a new one or still give us something as chunky as Nighttime Disguise is.
Anyone attending their current tour? They're not exactly known for playing new songs on tours, but who knows, maybe they'll surprise us this time. Myself skipping since the closest one is 6h away by train and hey, I've seen them 6 times already
