You are not alone. I only give low ratings to artists if it's someone I already liked before and I was disappointed with an album.

I just relistened to the mixtapes again and damn. I still like this but it's nowhere near the quality of the trilogy and has started to already wear off.

Still the best full-length thing he's done since though.

Awesome record, i really appreciate how he didn't rely on features and went back to his Trilogy stlye on some tracks, without it sounding just like a retread

“Nothing Compares should have been on the album its so good”

Agreed. The other two are much less developed tho, and can stay away.

I was reading what the deal with the album art and promo material was about and i guess it's supposed to be psychedelic somehow and inspired by the joker, casino, uncut gems and fear in loathing in los vegas

I can see the film inspiration but i would never describe that cover as psychedelic lol

i think the target/hmv exclusive album cover reflects that tone better and gives me a better idea of what the promo material was like. I prefer that cover in general, the backdrop for this cover doesn't convey those themes at all.

that being said that pale green colour suits the vibe of the actual music way better than black and red does.

The idea I get is that he's looking down in smugness at people who try to tear down his accomplishments/beat him down.

Like "yeah, fuck you, try again."
