"There are a lot of tracks that need trimming, but that one could be like 2:30"
I can't think of a single good ambient track that short. those kind of songs require length to build and evolve. I think it's borderline perfect.

Lol jester, why? Tracks are pretty much all connected. 2nd part of the album is just creatively more estimulant...just accept that.

"It's not pandering to anyone, Slipknot has always had accessible choruses".
They abuse of them a bit here...its the best album from their pop era no doubt by now...considering the bump.

Nero Forte and Critical Darling back to back feels repetitive since the choruses are very similar, and a ripper like Orphan feels very good at the beginning just like The Blister Exists, Gematria and Sarcastrophe on the previous three albums. All Out Life fits very well in Orphan’s original spot since they have similar energy. Other than that I didn’t fuck with it too much, and the tracks all still flow very organically on my playlist version. I dunno why it’s a big deal lol

“I can't think of a single good ambient track that short.“
Well, the problem it isn’t very good. And the ambience tacked on the first 2 minutes of the track, and the last idk 1:30(?) is just a slog to get through.

Do what you want...but the end of the tracks meet the begining of the next ones...that s something that could be done properly on those albuns with a gap of sound between tracks...I suggest you to delete that playlist. Its not that this is somehow an untoutchable magic artpiece where you shouldn t do that...but that's also why you don't need to do that...

I think this is at least more refreshing than vol3, Doibhin69.

So after a couple listens I have to say, this is actually good. I had pretty much given up on these guys after the last couple albums and people started dying/getting kicked out of the band. But this album is making me want to come back and re-listen to it more.
Despite having, give or take, 9 members, I've always thought Slipknot was really focused around the vocals. So it helps A LOT that this is definitely Corey's best screaming/growling performance in years. Definitely some good guitar riffs in here too.

Vol.3 aged like wine. I wonder how this will age in about 10 years from now.

Definitely their best album in a while, however could use some trimming, namely the inturludes and my pain.

My Pain and Not Long for This World are the only two tracks I still don't like very much. sucks that they're back to back cause that means there's a pretty lengthy lull in the album for me

Some of these interludes make the album's vibe for me. Mostly notably Death Because Of Death

My Pain drags on too long and Not Long has that annoying upbeat pop punk riff that completely takes me out of the vibe of the song. I never called them the worst songs on the album, I said I didn't like them. don't be a bitch.

My only intention was to make you think again, if you re willing to. Lots of people don't like My Pain..I do, but I get it. Not Long for this World is a pretty good track. The bad ones are the absolute fillers with formulaic and similar choruses. I feel almost ashamed such a cool verse on the Unsainted have such a corny chorus.
