Truth be told, I don't think I put this down for more than a month before coming back ever since it came out

Probably Maps of Non-Existent Places as it is their shortest and catchiest release but Terraformer is their best album imo. Honestly any of their albums is a good place to start.

Awesome album! Son of a Serpent is my favourite on this. It's an absolute belter of a song!

Don't come back to this super often, but when I do it's magical. I think all 3 albums have potential to be their best.

Birdwatching goes hard. What a jam.

Birdwatching is great, kinda makes me sad as I'm pretty sure this was Faye Fadem's idea, the drummer who recently left the band. Or they at least wrote the electronic elements to it. Felt like an interesting direction for the band.
|
| |
That's a bummer Faye left. I've just gotten into the band and his drumming is wild, especially in Blood on the Radio. Birdwatching sticks out a lot because it's so dark compared to their other songs and it reminds me a lot of Thrice's Alchemy Index II. Would've been a fun sound for them to explore more in depth.

They've just made an announcement that Sal is leaving the band for family reasons. Man, that sucks, I absolutely adored his studio vocs. Gonna raise a glass tonight while listening to Everyday Ghosts and Anchor for him

Don't think I've ever been so gutted about a band member leaving. Sal was an absolute saint, I loved that guy. Can't imagine Thank You Scientist without him. I sure hope they continue though because what they have is incredibly special.

Yeah man tell me about it, I sure did get inspired a lot stylistically by listening to his work at TYS. But hey, life is life sadly, all the best to him.
The question remains though, who could they possibly get now? As much as I'm saddned I'll never get to see them live with Sal on the stage, at the same time I'm excited to see what the new vocs will bring to the table

Yeah Thank You Scientist are a unique bunch, and Sal's vox is distinctly 'Thank You Scientist'. Like I can't imagine them without him. I remember listening to Absentee and falling in love with the band from there, the sound was so unusual but it just worked. But a lot of that was due to Sal's peculiar vocals. Also his live presence was great, he loved bantering with the crowd and even got me up on stage for a dance off. They are one of my favourite bands to see live because of Sal's (and the rest of the bands) antics.
