i thought this was pretty cool for a pop music debut, especially one that is actually gaining traction with the mainstream. while the album peters out with a few boring ballads, it has some really strong singles and some interesting instrumental ideas throughout.

I remember listening to this and thinking that “bad guy” was one of the worst songs and yet I keep listening to “bad guy” and have yet to revisit the rest. I think “bad guy” is better/more interesting than like all of Melodrama lol. Even though M is not a bad album. I’m a complicated man

OK I'll admit that now that I'm actually actively listening to this it's not -that- good. But I think it's interesting and moody for a #1 album and the distortion on "xanny" is perfectly rendered and I don't think I'll forget "bad guy" for a while for whatever reason
