Lyrics for New Wine New Skins and Michael are the absolute pinnacle of Aaron's career it's been confirmed by science

Okay. After the third listen I’m feeling a solid 4/5. Obviously that might grow, just like with Pale Horses.
I still feel a little let down by the ending. I think I’d like it more if Michael transitioned into it smoothly instead of how it does and also the very ending feels like a big track could be on the horizon and it just ends. Idk. I need to track down the lyrics for Michael too, because in its current state it’s not hitting me the way it probably should. The vocals are kinda washed out in the mix (probably intentional, possibly since the content sounds heavy with your interpretations) and while it’s sounds great instrumentally, I feel like one of the most important songs on the albums is leaving something to be desired at this point

My interpretation is that the washed out vocals reflect the chaos in Aarons mind, which is why his screams get more and more distorted as the record builds to Michael. The fact that the screams are so nearly-indecipherable in Michael just adds to the claustrophobia and discomfort in that track as well.

"Peter: [Not ringing bells]" made me laugh my ass off when I read it
There's such a strange playfulness amongst all the heaviness that I'm crazy about

Yeah we haven't even talked about the humor of some of the lyrics, even though Weiss has always been adept at sneaking subtle quips into much more serious topics.

There are some straight up rollicking grooves thrown into some of the songs here too: 9:27, Hydra, the guitar/bass counter-melodies on Tortoise
Unreal lol

The Shining reference in Wendy and Betsy cracked me up. "Wendy? {{{light of my life!}}}}" straight from Jack Nicholson's character in the movie.

"Have I made myself, and myself, clear?" is some very subtle but grin-worthy ironic humor at work as well.

Julia is a top 5 mwY song imo. Blew me away when I first heard it and in the context of the album, it's mindblowing.
