Seriously don't see what's so crazy about people thinking an album where an old washed up rapper who made a song with Ed Sheeran last year is all the sudden telling everyone he's bringing "real rap" back and dissing guys who have been consistently making better music than him for a while now, while simultaneously throwing a temper tantrum because nobody liked his previous album.

Cranky Kong
@assemblage: AlexK’s comment is the substantial argument ur looking for
Plus when is critiquing specific lines not substantial, it’s critiquing a substantive thing on the album lol

I do understand that, I really don't mean to flame a war or anything. I'm just more for positive discussion instead of cringey one liners posted that are worse than anything off the album itself in an attempt to overthrow opinion. Although nods to Cranky Kong.
I agree Em's content isn't always ever up to par but c'mon I would seriously take this than any boo-faced "I'm sorry for my career" schtick he pulls now and again. He has the best flows in years on this, and I do give props that he structures at least part of it as a relentless attack. It's the most Shady he's sounded in a long time and when Revival came out that's all people were clamoring for. I don't disagree that the last half of his career has been in disarray, but he has a retarded amount of lyrical abundance (good and bad) that isn't anything out of line with the output of his earlier work.

I see where you guys are coming from, but I don’t look at it as a temper tantrum. I see it as Em finally bringing some fire back to his music. I don’t really view the anger here any differently than the anger on MMLP. Where you guys hear pissing and moaning, I hear a guy trying to climb his way back to the top of relevancy amongst a music scene that no longer appreciates his craft in the way of the past, as most of them have moved on to trap (plus he hasn’t been stellar in like a decade so who can blame them). I hear a dude fighting to survive amongst this unfamiliar, new scene.
Which is mostly why it’s so cool to hear him hop on some trap beats and actually make them work.
I completely get not seeing any of this from my viewpoint though.
He has the best flows in years [2] honestly damn they’re so fucking great. They’re the main reason I just don’t understand slapping a straight 1 on this.

I agree Alex but with those complaints does that make this a 1?
fuckin no. When I see a 1 I immediately assume it's one of the worst albums ever made. Kamikaze isn't even remotely close to that.
Also explains why the 4.0 review got featured over the 1.0

'When I see a 1 I immediately assume it's one of the worst albums ever made.'
Theres literallly thousands and thousands of '1' albums it doesnt make it one of the worst ever at all. Puts it with a ton of other utter shite.

I think the ones have more to do with Eminem just generally getting more and more annoying and destroying the reputation he had built
|
| |
The flows that Eminem employs on here are no different than what he's been doing for a decade now. That's like his whole shtick anymore. I don't see why Eminem can make an album where he says a bunch of condescending bullshit over some mediocre-at-best beats and get a pass "because of his flows". With that logic, we should give the same treatment to Logic, Hopsin, MGK, and Tech Nine too right?

I mean, that's kind of why I gave this a 2. For a guy whose "fire" is apparently back, he seems to continue to rest on his laurels throughout the entire album.

I understand 1ing something if it represents a set of values ur 100% against, but I personally try not to do that cuz it does seem petty. thats why I haven't rated

What?? It can represent values you hate and still be musically decent. A 1 is simply a horrednously awful record to you personally.

I’m just saying I see why someone would do that.
In my aesthetics class we learned an ethicist which says that it’s basically impossible to enjoy art that you find ethically repulsive, for (an extreme) example the Nazi propaganda videos.
