ugh I know he’s a horrible horrible horrible person, but people are just too ignorant to point fingers at the public yet. Ur solution would be to inform them, my solution is to put down guns and stop talking about the fucker.
I’m going to bed I wish people could be nicer, this is a mess

nobody is being mean

hellscythe thinks nobody should mourn him because he is a terrible person
I think his mother still has a right to mourn him as does whoever wants to.

It's just a difference of opinion man

I don't think anyone has said that people have no right to mourn X, but regardless I will severely question the judgement of whoever does *shrug*

I am of the opinion that he doesn't deserve to be mourned but that was never the crux of my argument. my main point, however poorly I may have worded it at 3 AM on four hours of sleep, is just that the things he did should not be forgotten and more importantly that the opportunity should be taken to use what's happened as the spark for some conversations that need to be had and potentially get some good out of it. and I don't just mean on sput, I know he doesn't have an audience here, but in general. his past actions and history of abuse should be the first thing brought up in any discussion about his death. it's the legacy he left behind and it should follow his name forever.

and I apologize for being abrasive in all this. due to personal experience I get extremely worked up when physical and sexual abuse are part of a discussion and especially when they're seemingly ignored.

peace out for real now lol

shit I already see people deifying him on social media which I know he 100% doesn’t deserve. this is garbage
it’s so hard to see the difference between purposeful ignorance and ignorance because you just never cared to know before now

it's a weird feeling to see people online make memes and be so flagrant about this guys death. on one hand it's like yes, he absolutely was a shitty person. on the other hand, it's weird to see people that usually try to be as moral as possible being like "FUKK YEHHH XXX is DEAD".

touchy subject and ik the two aren't on the same plane exactly but John Lennon was a known physical abuser and even admitted to this while still alive.

which brings me to my second point, I only mourn the death of a talented artist, not the man behind the XXX persona which I think people will need to start to separate or else emotions will get pretty intense. to go as far as saying ANY sort of mourning over a needless killing supports abusers dismisses the fact that many people are able to separate his artistry from his personal wrongdoings.

however, and this brings me to my last point, we must also realize many people will have different personal viewpoints on this and we should be esp v conscious and careful of what we say and how we say it. so try not to generalize simply due to emotions

i mean yes, his fans will miss his art, not his beating of pregnant women

it's this stupid argument all over again, people can like art that shitty people make, it's not wrong, it's not about morals or ethics, it never was.

also the chic-fil-a comparison is a nice one, many people I know who are gay still willingly go there because they love the food even though they know the CEO is directly funneling that money into politicians' pockets for anti-LGBTQ legislation. we don't eat food for a social cause nor should we consume music for a social cause

but going off this, everyone respects people that are unable to justify buying chic-fil-a due to personal beliefs so we should also respect those who are unable to listen to X's music for those very same reasons, even if we disagree with the principle behind it. (and vice versa ofc)

on the other hand, it's weird to see people that usually try to be as moral as possible being like "FUKK YEHHH XXX is DEAD".

From what I've seen, most people are honestly obsessed with violent justice, something that I could never comprehend since you can't just simply extinguish fire with fire, so is violence against violence.

I respect the fact if people can't mourn into this guy's death because he was such a shitty person. But celebrating, or simply being delighted about his death is just a little bit too much.

Everyone has the potential to be a good person, or at least a decent human being. XXXT died too early before his slight of bit of goodness within him has come out. Now he will be remembered as an abuser for instead of 'a man who has redeemed himself' the rest of the history, I'm mourning for that.

And also don't forget that we can agree to disagree.

Justice is soft concept.
it's not about ending violence, it's about what people think they deserve as retribution. All justice is is retribution, we as a civilization have tried to make it look more 'fair' and more 'objective' but it really isn't ... at all.

stop talking about redeeming himself and all the good he could have done. have you read the details of what he did? he could become a saint and donate all of the money he vet makes to charity, live like a monk, and pay for the surgery to restore his ex-gf’s vision in one of her eyes. that still wouldn’t redeem him or make him a good person. nothing could. he literally tortured his pregnant girlfriend.

Because in America we make our justice and prison system about punishment instead of rehabilitation. We live in a punitive society
