This album is perfectly "pleasant" to listen to, but it doesn't have much substance to hold onto.

If this had excellent production it’d easily be a 3

This just confuses me. Like I've said, this sounds like something people were be criticizing more the same way they've criticized other tech albums. But this one seems to get a free pass for some reason and it overshadows artists that I think have put out much stronger and enjoyable releases.

The comment section seems to have a far greater concentration of people who just cannot believe people like the album as much as they do.

I've listened to a shitload of albums this year so far and this one stood way out. I don't even follow the hype, I had no idea other sites were rating it so highly. This review came entirely just from my personal impressions of it.

Which artists might those be Mars?

I mean this is doing the exact same thing that The Faceless have been doing for two albums now but I will admit this is much better than The Faceless' take on it.

If these guys weren't nostalgic for me this would be a 2.5

No. Cheesy overproduced death/tech/prog chuga chuga junz metal with random sax thrown in is precisely the kind of formula this site at large will eat up without hesitation.

Should've known the thread for an album getting as much hype as this would suck hard.

Well this is disappointing. How could you guys promise me a 4.1 when it's really a 2.5? Smh I feel like a misled tinder date.

Damn, only replied to this to try & defend Persefone & now it's clogging up my feed. Maybe I'll jam, this sounds like a fun thread.

Assuming sarcasm... why is this not a surprise to you? Do these guys normally attract differing opinions/bickering?

I can't believe people on this site still pretend they don't like argument threads
