One thing I don’t like about this album: dude’s vox on Would You Rather. Completely fucks up the vibe of an otherwise great song.

The more I listen to this, the less and less I seem to listen to Julien Baker anymore. I still adore Sprained Ankle, but idk, Phoebe Bridgers has started to seem much more interesting in the long run

Julien and Phoebe both rule for different reasons which is why the existence of boygenius blows my mind

Boney FUCK yeah

Also yeah this is becoming more my thing over Baker by the day, but this is completely different. I think they work better

and yeah Chelsea and Would You Rather are the skippables here

To be fair it might be time I revisited Baker, I have a feeling I may not have given her the fairest chance.

But yeah either way there’s something about this that is immediately striking.

Just want to leave this here, because I was just thinking about it recently.

I swear, the intro to Funeral is just something else. It may just be one of the most affecting and intense things I've heard in a folk record... the way the distortion phases in and out with different pitches, and the way the acoustic guitar subtly chimes in at the aftermath... the feeling is indescribable. I imagine the intro as the process of actually dying and letting out your final breaths, and the acoustic number that follows is the grieving and coping. I've just never heard it done that way before

I gave it a spin this morning, sounded pretty good but nothing floored me. (Also I couldn’t tell when Phoebe was singing versus when Julien was singing, their voices are so similar.)
