bottom of the barrel with Persevere but don't crap on the lyrics

"Our childhood is memory, still ascended high in dreams

And I’m suspending what I held for preconceptions of my being"

yeah, nevermind that is like grade school nonsense

^ Yeah I get that, but thats not the part of the song that gets me going, the outro is:

"But don’t be alone

Did I tell you that I spent most of my sister’s wedding stoned?

Say what you want with blood and bone

And stick a finger in their faces when they say you’re overblown

Say yes to sun! Say yes to pain!

Say yes to sticking with a city through a thousand days of rain!

Say yes to this! Say yes to you!

Say yes to me! Say yes to love!"

why? not a heart on your sleeve guy, maybe? I mean either am I, but I don't understand why a simple, uplifting message at the peak of one of the best songs on the album is cringe, especially due to the tone of the album

I mean deliberately avoid paying attention to lyrics mostly (Hip hop aside) because I find cheesy, annoying shit all the time but I got no issues with this.

Fire Goes Out, Achilles, Let Me Down Easy, Say Yes are all emotional bops. I love how simple and powerful Achilles is

I'm still afraid to listen to this in certain circumstances because of how hard the emotions hit me, which is something I've only ever said about Wildlife and Sunbather to date

idk man even though it evokes a lot of emotions and memories in me i'd rather forget, they're somehow disarmed by the general rush of the instrumentation and subliminal elements of optimism in a way that reinvigorates, rather than depresses.
