sputnik's logic for rating the latest brand new album:

oh wow this isn't a disappointment compared to the vastly disappointing daisy and i still cry to jesus christ everyday 5/5

I mean, how were they going to follow up TDAG just in the impact it had on a broader scale. basically impossible even if the music is subjectively better or worse. I just personally prefer it

Daisy is just a grower. So many people listened and shat on it and that was that. Folks who returned to it and gave it time loved it and subsequently also the ones who shat on it before may have done the same. Daisy is amazing and totally underrated but let’s just be real, this is better than Daisy and that shouldn’t be a controversial statement. Hell, this is better than Deja.. it’s just a tossup of what’s better this or TDAG and an answer can’t be made right now, at least a thourough one. But damn this album just gets better and better.

"also just wanna say i think the nagasaki line is fantastic"

Absolutely. That whole song is incredibly well-written. Shame they never did that kind of social commentary back when they actually sounded like a punk band.

and yeah i think it's really powerful, but part of the power is the fact that for the most part their lyrics are personal and introspective so it's rare for them to say something like that

The atmosphere here is what gets me. You get so many subconscious chills just from the sound alone.
