their discography has gradually declined in terms of quality music so I don't see how this album is so shocking to anyone, so much so as to make them rate in a fit of red and betrayal

jammed funeral again and i don't dig it because it's "fun"
it is "fun" in a roundabout way, sure, but that's not why i dig it.

the only "fun" in funeral is in the album name

Yeah fantastic soundtrack for one of the best movies ever made imo, too bad it'll probably be the last excellent thing this band ever does, as solid as Reflektor was.

The title track and Electric Blue are pretty good, and some other listenable tracks as well.

To be fair I can totally understand why someone would 1 this.
Yeah con, considering you only gave Funeral a 3 iirc you need not bother with this.

Can totally see a 1 for this. I’m incredibly close but there are 2 tracks I like, and the 2 I like are ones that most others seem to not care for so yeah I can see others rating it that way. It’s like a 1.3 in my book. 10 minutes out of a 47 minute album is a 21% which would be a 1 for this site honestly, and 2 out of 13 total tracks is 15% so if anything I’m generous.
I used to like Put Your Money on Me but it’s kinda faded to obscurity. It’s just Electric Blue and We Don’t Deserve Love for me, though they are pretty stellar tracks and neither belong on this album. This would be the worst album of the year for me if it weren’t for Father John Misty who delivered a similarly ironic album that fell right on its face. It’s a shame because both were highlights of the year for me.
Can’t tell what’s worse “Leaving LA” or “Chemistry”... at least the latter has meme potential. I wonder how long it’ll be til this ironic phase passes us by. You can’t just release a shitty album and use irony as a crutch if folks hate it. All the sheep will proclaim it went right over your head, yet it still doesn’t sound good at any stretch. While they proclaim we can’t move along from Funeral and have to accept evolution, all the while they dangle Funeral over our heads from a very narcissistic point of view in songs here. Reminding us that even as they made an album as shitty as this one to not forget where they were at one point in time. It’s as if they’re also in on the joke, like dangling a juicy steak over a dog while giving them lettuce instead. We Don’t Deserve Love, while being a great song almost sounds as if they’re telling us they don’t deserve anything for this album by giving us a great song in hopes we forget about the rest here, undermining those of whom actually like to listen to music and assuming we’re all braindead.
Praising this stupidity is what leads to other things that are even worse.. It should be nipped in the bud. It really makes me cringe. Let’s praise the irony of consumerism while giving into it, leaving the band laughing all the way to the bank while we are just supporting the shitty cause. Do we enjoy having the wool pulled over our eyes? I certainly don’t. Maybe they had been pulling the wool over us from their inception, and others have brought that to surface as well, but at least they sounded like they gave a shit then. Now they don’t even care in the slightest. I want to 1 it from that alone. And if other folks feel that way, then sobeit. Long time fans should hate this, honestly. End of rant. Love you all.

What irks me the most is that the Everything Now consumer critique is so half-assed. The angle they've chosen is so derivative and superficial of countless of other capitalist parodies. It might've worked in the 90s with the huge amounts of irony involved, but now it just comes off as really dated. The example that made me roll my eyes the most was that "sponsored advertising" on Colbert. I generally like AF, but no wonder some people think they're pretentious with stunts like this and doing a shout-out to "all the bands playing actual instruments" at Coachella.

TMT: "Arcade Fire’s claim about Everything Now is that its irony is so sophisticated that it’s simply lost on most critics and listeners. What Arcade Fire doesn’t understand about irony, however, is that it requires enough critical distance between the subject and its action that people can tell the difference. Irony only works when it’s understood that what is being said is not necessarily what is meant."

Yeah, this is still underwhelming. Some positives though:
- I like Creature Comfort for how stupid it is.
- Infinite Content is like a shot of espresso compared to the rest of these songs and it's not even that great.
- Infinite_Content is genuinely good.
- Put Your Money On Me has some life in it.

@theBoneyKing Lyrics are a big dent, absolutely. You'd think after 15+ years in the game they'd be able to write a better line or two
