I suppose we were all very different people in 2007

This album was going to be a complete clusterfuck for me, but the second half of "The Little Things..." gave me strong prog and even post-rock vibes, kinda Great Gig in the Sky-esqe, and I thought hey maybe it's not half bad. No Roads Left works very well right after. And the distorted remix of What I've Done pulls no punches, why even have the toothless original next to it.
The album is still atrocious, small things can't redeem it.

I think I've said this before in this thread, but 'Valentine's Day' might be their worst song so far. It is cheesy and cliche to a certain degree, and far removed from earlier ballads like 'My December'.
Looking back on it now, this is also the first touch of their overall stylistic change. I remember being kinda surprised by the cover art which did not feature any references to the "soldier" from [Hybrid Theory]. Sure, Meteora already strayed from this - but I feel like there was a missed opportunity when it comes to band identity and/or lore to completely disregard the imagery around that soldier figure from the debut. Reanimation did a cool anime/robotica rendition of it, so I think they should have continued keeping it as a mascot in some way.

I wonder what a timeline would be like if they just stuck to the Hybrid Theory sound throughout their career
They'd probably be seen in the same light as Nickelback, constantly trying to reinvent Hybrid Theory and ending up with shallow watered-down copies filling up their discog. I'm glad they chose to experiment instead, even if everything post-Meteora turned out to have some mixed results. Though I agree it would've suited them better if they did what Celldweller did and added more industrial/electronica elements while still keeping the teeth of their debut.

Linkin Park post-Meteora is almost entirely a singles band, but they did have a few quite decent songs

What should’ve happened is Mr Hahn doing his own solo material cuz he’s talented
