Hell yeah! I was a little disappointed by Amorphis, but Moonspell and Omnium Gatherum were fun and solid. Definitely find a way to get to the front of the stage for DT if you can.

the first time I saw DT 4 years ago it was amazing. They had Insomnium open for them. Then I saw them 2 years ago with Swallow the Sun opening for them. My friends and I were so bored hearing StS that DT became fairly stale from the lack of energy. lol

ZIIIIING! haha nice one!
Moonspell was boring as hell between, everybody else killed it. It was my first time catching DT and I agree Stanne ruled it and he really shined on the Atoma songs. Also I disagree about Amorphis, I think some of the material on The Bee doesn't translate as well as it should in a live setting, but since they played such a huge setlist covering a lot of their discog it was really nice + extra points for Tomi's insane vocal performance.

@frozencarl: I feel like Tomi was the only one really getting into it. The rest of the band felt like they were just "there." And I think the venue got lazy with the sound on their equipment. The first two songs we couldn't even hear Tomi, but even after they fixed that it just didn't sound great. I ended up sitting in the lobby for the last third of their setlist.

Yup, Tomi was the only one feeling it. still killed it tho, House of Sleep was amazing.
Moonspell simply shouldn't have been on the bill. it would've let Omnium Gatherum play a longer set and the show wouldn't have to go till 12:45am.

These comments make me sad. I enjoyed Moonspell when I saw them live a few years ago.

Huh. Seems I'm in the minority of people who enjoyed Moonspell live.

Moonspell are better live than on recording. I don't enjoy their music, but their performance was very theatrical and entertaining. Dark Tranquillity was fantastic as always, really cool to see Chris Amott and Johan Reinholdz subbing in on guitars. It's insane how much talent those two have and how underutilized they are touring with DT, but they were incredibly tight, and their performance was top notch. Amorphis sounded good, but they were a bit dull to watch unfortunately. DT put on a much more vibrant and energetic set so they set the bar high for Amorphis. Great show though, I'm glad I got to see them all again.

I'm just glad DT closed the show I went to. And yeah, Chris and Johan were great too. Also, little fun fact: It was Anders Iwers birthday during the show we went to, so obviously the crowd sang him happy birthday. And I thought it was cool for them to get an audience member to sing the female vocals for The Mundane and the Magic.

I think Chris Amott should be brought on as a full time replacement for Martin Henriksson, he could add a lot to the songwriting.

Agreed.
Crysis, did you make it out to Rock and Shock Saturday night in Worcester? With Wintersun and Ne Obliviscarus added to the bill, it was a killer show.

Yup I was there, aside from DT I actually thought Omnium Gatherum were the best, but overall it was an excellent show.

Sadly, I just missed OG, but I had just caught the same tour in Phoenix a couple weeks before, and was able to see them there. They were certainly great. I like the new record quite a bit.
DT is of course, always excellent live.
I liked Wintersun, as well. Hearing them play live inspired me to check out more of their music, which eventually led me to listen to the first Ensiferum album, which is awesome. So, the show led to good things! ;)

OG are great performers. got to talk to the singer and the Insomnium guitarist as they were hanging by the merch stand. fanboyed a little and told em they helped get me into melodeath back in high school and ended up hugging em. wholesome interactions like that make the music that much better i feel
